Overview

Angel Aligner is made by Angelalign Technology, a company that has been developing clear aligners since 2003. It has manufacturing in China and Brazil. Angel Aligner is supplied through registered dentists and orthodontists, not sold direct to consumers. It runs a dedicated UK and Ireland site, and a growing number of UK practices offer it alongside Invisalign and other established brands. Clinicians plan cases in the brand's iOrtho software, which pairs 3D tooth-movement simulation with cephalometric (skull X-ray) analysis. The flagship Angel Aligner Pro range uses a '7+3' dual-aligner sequence. For each stage you wear a softer masterControl S aligner for about seven days, then a firmer masterControl aligner for about three. The idea is to start each movement gently and then finish it with more control. Angel Aligner also has some features you won't find on every brand. The angelButton, launched in 2020, is a hook moulded into the aligner for elastic bands, so no separate button has to be bonded to the tooth. The A6 mandibular advancement option, launched in 2015, is designed to guide the lower jaw forward in Class II (retruded lower jaw) cases while the teeth are aligned. Whether you need either feature is a clinical judgement, not a reason to choose the brand.

Insurance Coverage in the UK

UK dental insurance and cash-plan cover depends on the policy's orthodontic benefit wording, not the brand name. If a plan includes clear aligner or orthodontic cover, it typically pays a fixed contribution once treatment is prescribed and supervised by a registered dentist or orthodontist. Check waiting periods, annual or lifetime caps, and whether pre-authorisation is required before paying a deposit — insurers generally treat all clinician-supervised aligner brands the same way under a single orthodontic benefit line.

Financing & Payment Plans

Most UK providers offer in-practice payment plans spreading the cost over 12 to 36 months, sometimes interest-free. Ask what happens to remaining instalments if you need to pause treatment or switch provider partway through, since that varies by practice rather than by brand.

Best For: Angel Aligner Suitability by Condition

Underbite: Mild to moderate cases only. Angel Aligner can address mild to moderate underbites using attachments and inter-arch elastics where needed. Significant skeletal underbites usually need fixed braces, and some need jaw surgery alongside orthodontics — a clinical assessment is the only way to know which category a case falls into. Overbite: Mild to moderate cases only. Angel Aligner is commonly used for mild to moderate deep bites, often with bite ramps or attachments to help correct vertical overlap. More pronounced overbites, particularly with a skeletal component, are typically better suited to fixed appliances. Gaps / spacing: Well suited. Spacing between teeth is one of the more straightforward movements for Angel Aligner's aligner system, since it mainly involves tipping and translating teeth into the gap rather than complex rotations. Crowding: Mild to moderate crowding. Angel Aligner can resolve mild to moderate crowding, sometimes with limited interproximal reduction (small amounts of enamel removed between teeth) to create space. Severe crowding often needs extractions or fixed braces to achieve a stable result. Buck teeth / protrusion: Mild to moderate protrusion. Angel Aligner can retract mildly to moderately protruding front teeth using attachments for grip. Larger protrusions, especially with a skeletal cause, are usually assessed for fixed braces or a combined orthodontic-surgical approach.

Suitability for Kids & Teens

Angel Aligner is prescribed by a clinician, so the treating dentist or orthodontist decides case by case whether it suits a teenager. The A6 mandibular advancement option is aimed at Class II cases where the lower jaw sits back. It is usually considered while a patient is still growing, so a specialist orthodontist should make that call.
